Welcome to the Official Portadown F.C. Youth website
Our club currently provides football coaching for children from the age of five years old to sixteen years old. For the 2009-10 season we will have teams from the U8's, U9's & U10's playing in the Mid Ulster Youth League Games Development Centre. The club is also continuing to establish itself by entering teams into what is regarded as the premier league for youth football in Northern Ireland, the Lisburn Junior Invitational League, those teams will play at U11, U12, U13 & U14 levels.
The club is also affiliated to the Northern Ireland Boys Football Association and enters teams into the N.I.B.F.A. Cup.
Last season (2008/09) we had our most successful season ever in our short history. After five seasons in the Lisburn Junior Invitaional League we won our first piece of Lisburn League silverware when our U13 team won the Lisburn League Cup. It was also so near yet so far as both the U11 and U13 teams finished as runners up in the Lisburn League. The team that provided most of the silverware was the U10 team with three trophies, they won the Hillsborough Boys Soccer Festival in August of last season then in June 2009 they won the Annagh Utd Community Festival and followed this up the following week by winning the inaugural Portadown FC Youth Soccer Festival. The club is especially proud of this as not only were we the host club but the tournament contained a large number of Northern Ireland's top youth teams at the U10 level. The winning didn't stop there as the U8's won the George Willis Memorial Cup at a tournament in Loughgall and the U9's ended the season with the sixth trophy of the year by winning the Ards Youth Shield. This website will keep everyone informed as to the progress of each team in their respective leagues, competitions & tournaments.
In the short few years since Portadown F.C. Youth was formed we have had a few players go on to play at a higher level. These players include Alan Teggart and Ross Redman who have played regularly for Portadown in the Irish Premier League and Andrew Wright who progressed through our youth system and made his Irish Premier League debut & was called into the Northern Ireland U19 squad less than a year after signing for the senior club. Danny O'Neill was a member of our first ever team and is currently signed to Nottingham Forest. Another player who played for our club was Ryan Harpur who went on to sign for English Premiership side Everton and played for Northern Ireland in the 2007 Milk Cup, they made it all the way to the final. All of last season's U16 players went on to sign for the senior club and over the last few season's we have provided at least 20 players who have signed for Portadown F.C. .
If you are a young player and would like to play for Portadown F.C. Youth, then look for the page that belongs to the team that suits your age. There you will see when & where the team trains and just go along and speak to the coach for that team. |
