During the months of January and February a number of coaches from Portadown FC Youth joined in with coaches from other clubs to attend the latest I.F.A. Level 1 course. They were held at Lurgan Town's facilities at Gordon Playing Fields in Lurgan. Some of the clubs attending included Glenavon FC and Loughgall Lakers, Loughgall FC's womens team.

Attending the course for Portadown FC Youth were Club Chairman Ricky Steenson, Club Secretary Nigel Davison, U15's manager Michael Lynch, U15 Colts coach Graham Mitchell, U13's manager Keith Hall, Lisburn League U10's manager Philip Graham and Mini Soccer U10's manager & coach Geoff Smyth & Trevor Hall.

The course was the very latest up to date course the I.F.A. has to offer with the coursework literally hot of the press and entailed learning coaching techniques, child protection awareness course, first aid course, a referee awareness course (a first for the I.F.A. Level 1 course), a number of hours of actual coaching within the club and an assessment at the end.

This has saw a large investment in coaches within the club and the club intends to continue with this investment with all the coaches at the club and to assist coaches to further their coaching levels.
