U10 Mid Ulster Youth League

Mini Soccer

Portadown FC Youth 4 - 0 Loughgall

After a very successful week in Scotland last weekend it was back to Gordon Playing Fields for the Mini Soccer. The first game was against Loughgall and the football from the Ports was top quality. Ryan Smyth opened the scoring finishing of a great move involving Niall Massey and James Gould. More chances fell to Scott Cowan, Cain Murtagh and Massey but the ball wouldn't go into the net, Chris Hall, Cowan and Mark Johnson had a quiet game at the back before Smyth doubled the lead and Massey grabbed the third. A lot more chances fell the way of the Ports with Johnny Farrell, Gould and Murtagh all narrowly missing, Smyth finished things of when he got his hat trick and the teams fourth.

Portadown FC Youth 5 - 0 Sunnyside

Game two was against Sunnyside and after some early pressure the Ports held strong with Adam Hill and Johnson strong at the back. Gould, Murtagh and Massey started to get to grips in midfield and caused Sunnyside loads of problems. Smyth opened the scoring with a tap in and Massey made it 2 - 0 just before the break. The game was over as a contest when Massey got his second and Sunnyside were running out of ideas on how to break down the Ports. Murtagh soon got in on the act with a great solo run making it 4 - 0 and with the Ports back line left with nothing it was Massey who grabbed his hat trick with a great shot leaving the final score 5 - 0.

Portadown FC Youth 6 - 0 Edenderry Boys

The final game of the day was against Edenderry Boys and it was turning out to be an other great week for the Ports. Farrell got the opener after great work from Gould and Smyth. It didn't take long for the Ports to grab the second when Smyth rounded the keeper. After this Edenderry defended for their lives as wave after wave of attacks came at them but they held firm to half time. The half time break just spurred the Ports to keep attacking and the pressure told when Smyth got his second. Cowan was very unlucky with at least four attempts and his final shot looked destined for the net but he hit Smyth with the shot and Smyth grabbed his second hat trick of the day. Murtagh finished of the scoring with a long range effort into the top corner to give a full time score of 6 - 0.
