15 May 2008 - Millington Win The N.I.S.F.A. Cup

Celebrating with the Northern Ireland Schools F.A. Cup are Portadown FC Youth's Millington P.S. players from l to r are Ross Wilson, Jordan White, Jamie Rea, Jamie Smyth, Ryan Smyth, Jake Richardson (captain) and Nathan Thompson.

This evening saw the long awaited Northern Ireland Schools F.A. Cup Final between two of Portadown's primary schools. Millington Primary School secured a 2 - 0 win over their nearest neighbours, Hart Memorial Primary School.

The plus side for Portadown FC Youth is that 14, yes FOURTEEN, of our players took to the field spread evenly over the two teams. The Hart team featured Portadown FC Youth players Jake Gilpin, Robin Graham, Kane Blevins, Jamie Reavie, Reagan McIlveen, Corey Blair and Matthew Marsden. And the winning Millington team featured Jamie Smith, Jamie Rea, Jordan White, Jake Richardson, Nathan Thompson, Ryan Smyth and Ross Wilson.

Millington started the brighter team and more or less controlled the whole game but only led the game 1 - 0 at the break after a Jamie Smyth goal, obviously a player like his dad (Jamie was our U12's top sccorer this season and his dad is Loughgall's hotshot striker, Dean Smith). Jamie had the ball in the net twice during the first half but his second attempt was ruled out for a foul.

Again Millington started the second half as the stronger team and around the halfway mark of the second half another Portadown player, Jordan White settled the tie with a second goal to give Millington the trophy.
