Building On Our Success

In Northern Ireland there are some of the world's most successful tournaments like the Foyle Cup & The Milk Cup (widely regarded as the world's best youth tournament), but they cater for the older age groups. Also a large number of Northern Ireland youth clubs, ourselves included, all spend thousands of pounds to take their teams across to England, Scotland and even further afield to enter prestigious tournaments. Over the last few years there has been a steady rise in the number of summer tournaments for youth teams to take part in.

Last season (2008/09) saw us host our first tournament. After attracting a large number of Northern Ireland's top teams at the U10 level to the inaugural Portadown FC Youth Soccer Festival we are looking to build on a hugely successful tournament.

Quick Guide

  • The tournament will follow the Mini Soccer (7-a-side) format for children born on or after Jan. 1st 2000.
  • The first part of the tournament will see the 16 teams split into four groups of four.
  • Each team's finishing position in the group stage will determine which of the four competition semi-finals they will be placed into. There will be a trophy for the winners of each competition.
  • A Fair Play trophy will be awarded to the team with the best Fair Play score.

The Application Form for the 2010 tournament is now available to download at the bottom of the page.

Either print it off and post the completed form to the address shown or download the form and complete it, save it to your computer and send it back to us as an attachment to portsyouth@yahoo.co.uk

Caution though as we will discard any applications that arrive before Monday 4th January.

We would also advise you to print off the Tournament Rules and familiarise yourself with them before completing the Application Form.

We are particularly interested in making sure that the tournament has teams representing all six counties from Northern Ireland. The tournament is not limited to teams from Northern Ireland, we would welcome entries from teams from the Republic of Ireland or even further afield.

If your club would be interested in taking part please email us with a contact name and address and we will send an application form in due course.

The opening date for applications for the 2010 Portadown FC Youth Soccer Festival is drawing near. Everything is in place for the tournament bar the actual date, the provisional date for the tournament is Saturday 22nd May (3 weeks earlier). The actual date should be confirmed before Christmas. Any team wishing to enter should email the club at portsyouth@yahoo.co.uk to register an interest and we will forward an online application on the opening date. If you would prefer to use the conventional paper form of application please let us know and we will send you a paper application to allow you to return it in time for the opening date. We would recommend that teams apply to enter as soon as possible from the opening date as we expect the 15 available spaces to fill up very quickly, we have already had teams from Scotland and the Republic of Ireland register an interest, so be quick!

There has been a large request for online applications and we do expect that the tournament will fill up very quickly so please return your form quickly to avoid disappointment.

5/1/10 - Filling Up Quickly

With the application process only open just one day the tournament is filling up very fast, so far we have enough applications to pass the half full mark. Again we would advise interested teams to get their applications in very quickly as available places will run out very soon.

7/1/10 - Last Few Places Remain

Time to hurry up is now here! With only a couple of places remaining this is more or less the last call for entries. There are a number of teams who have requested the online application forms but the problem now is that there have been more expressions of interest than available places so some teams are going to be disappointed, if you don't want to be disappointed please hurry up and get your application in.

Such was the response to this year's tournament all available places in the tournament have now been filled, all within seven days of opening the application period. For those teams who asked for but have not yet returned their forms, you will be included in the Reserve List if you return your form and indicate that you wish to be placed on the list. A full list of the teams will be posted in the coming days, including an U10 team from a Scottish First Division side and all of last years winners are also returning.
