Team News

25th November 2007 - Newry City Withdraw

This weekend saw Newry City withdraw from this league. Newry were sitting bottom without a point after losing their opening 9 matches. Those matches included both teams from our club. As a result all the matches that Newry City played in were declared void and each team that played them have lost three points.

30th October - N.I.B.F.A. Cup

This team has drawn Red Star of the South Belfast Youth League in the first round of the F.A. Cup. The tie is a home tie on Saturday 8th December.

10th September 2007 - Match Cancelled

The match scheduled for Saturday 8th September against Camlough Rovers was cancelled as Camlough were unable to field a team and they have apparently now withdrawn from the league.

3rd September 2007 - Player Changes

During the summer this team lost Sam Woods to Armagh City, Daniel Robinson & Nathan Harvey to AFC Craigavon. They also lost Dean Gartland. To replace them they have brought in Gary Johnston & Andrew McKenlis from Loughgall and two players from Kilkeel team, Valley Rangers, and they are Steven Patterson and James Sloan. At a recent IFA Coaching Camp James won an invitation to the Umbro Diamond Challenge. He was chosen, along with another Portadown FC Youth player Scott Cowan, by Malcolm Roberts (IFA Grassroots Development Officer for Newry & Mourne District Council). It was at this camp that James & Steven were spotted and invited to Portadown for trials.

28th August 2007 - Confirmation Of Team Name

This team will play under the name of Portadown FC Youth this season. It has been decided that the second team that the club has entered into this league will change their name and will play under the 'Colts' tag.
