Team News

19th April 2008 - Disappointment At Late Call Off

The team went home disappointed on Saturday 19th April due to a late call off to their match. With the team at the venue, in the changing room about to get kitted out for the match, they were informed that no match was going to be played. With the pitch in a playable condition and a fine morning no reason was given for the call off. This makes finishing their league campaign hard as there is a shortage of time in which to rearrange this fixture before the shutdown date of the league. Further bad news is Barcroft have won the runners up spot after beating Garvey Boys 4 - 0 to leave them 7 points clear.

12th April 2008 - League Dream Ends

This morning's 1 - 0 defeat by Midway now means that the team can no longer win the First Division. This result leaves Midway 9 points clear of the Ports with only two games remaining and only needing 1 point from their last match to guarantee league success. For Portadown their focus switches to the runners up spot in a battle with Barcroft who will be their opposition on the last week of the league.

9th February 2008 - Special Guest At Training

Monday 18th February saw a special guest take charge at the boys training. Former Crusaders & Linfield player, Sid Burrows, took the players for training to help learn them and the management team some new techiques. Sid has agreed to make his visits a regular occurance. Keith, David, Johnny & the players would like to thank Sid for his help.

15th February 2008 - Davy Crawford In Action For Hanover

Most club members will know that coach, Davy Crawford, plays each weekend for Intermediate League A champions Hanover. Last Saturday saw them take on Lurgan Town in the Quarter Finals of the Marshall Cup. Hanover won the match 4 - 3 on penalties after a 1 - 1 draw. A photographer from the Lurgan Town website was there and captured a good photograph of Davy in action and we couldn't resist showing it to everyone.

30th October 2007 - Tesco Cup Draw

The draw for this season's Tesco Cup has given this team a home tie against Tristar Boys from the Derry & District Youth League. This is the team that knocked the boys out of last year's N.I.B.F.A. Cup at the 2nd round stage.

20th October 2007 - Rusty Suffers Long Injury Lay Off

The morning of Saturday 20th broke with the news that Kyle Russell (Rusty) will miss upto 8 weeks after breaking his wrist the previous evening. Everyone wishes Rusty a speedy recovery.

20th October 2007 - Player Returns

The match against Celtic Boys saw Darren Beattie return to the squad after he annouced he was leaving the club just over 4 weeks ago.

1st October 2007 - Players Comings & Goings

This evening one player joined the team and another left. Robert Murray is the third Portadown Boys player who has joined the club in as many weeks. Also this evening Mark Kennedy was released as a result of an internal discipline issue.

25th September 2007 - New Challenge

For a number of reasons the management of this team has decided that they would withdraw the team for the Lisburn Junior Invitational League and seek entry to the Mid Ulster Youth League. It has been confirmed this evening that entry to the Mid Ulster League has been granted and the Lisburn League has been informed of the of the teams wishes to withdraw. The team start their new challange this Saturday with an away trip to Dungannon Youth at the White City pitches.

24th September 2007 - Another New Signing

This week saw another player sign for the team this week. The new player is Graham Bunting, another ex Portadown Boys player, following hot on the heels of Kyle Russell who also came to the club through Portadown Boys.

19th September 2007 - More New Players

There have been a further two additions to the squad with the signings of Timothy Hanna and Kyle Russell. But the hope is that this will not be the end of the signings as hopes are high that there will be at least three top quality signings over the next couple of weeks. These signings have been made on the back of two departures, Mark Whitten has swapped this team to play for our U11 team and Darren Beattie has left the club altogether with talk of him joining Portadown Boys.

3rd September 2007 - More New Players

Continuing on with the current rebuilding of this team they have this evening signed three new players from Banbridge Town. They are Arron, Mark & Neil Toner and hopefully their registrations go through in time for them to play in Saturday's match against Greenisland.

19th August 2007 - New Signings

This summer has seen a large rebuilding exercise with this team after a large number of players left and went elsewhere. First of all Craig McMorris & Lee McCracken found their way to Shankill Juniors; then Iain Irwin, John Uprichard & Gareth Rees joined Portadown Boys. Cameron Burke has been training with Lurgan Town & Jordan Reynolds has quit football altogether. So far Jamie Devlin & last season's captain Neil Taylor have not turned up to pre season with rumours of them training with both Lurgan Town & Banbridge Town.

With more players still to arrive there have been some new arrivals. Among the new arrivals was Josh McCall from Armagh City, Taylor Scott from Sunnyside. Also former Loughgall player Mark Whitten has joined from Laurelvale and Tandragee trio Mark Kennedy, Joshua Wright & Andrew Martin. Another new signing has been Jordan Brown and at least one Portadown Boys player has signalled his intention to transfer.
