6th April 2008 - Boys Win In Scotland
The boys were among three teams from our club to travel to the Easter & Spring Festival of Football in Ayr, Scotland and won their age group with 6 wins and 2 draws from their eight matches.
5th September 2007 - U10's Win First Ever 11-a-side Match
The U10's played their first ever 11-a-side match against Banbridge Town and won an incredible match. The young Ports twice came from 2 goals behind to win 5 - 4 with virtually the last kick of the match. Goals came from Ryan Smyth (2), Niall Massey (1) & Scott Cowan (2).
3rd September 2007 - Young Player Chosen For Umbro Diamond Challenge
At a recent IFA Coaching Camp in Kilkeel Scott Cowan, who plays for this team, was chosen by Malcolm Roberts (IFA Grassroots Development Officer for Newry & Mourne District Council) to take part in the Umbro Diamond Challenge. He will join new Portadown FC Youth player, James Sloan, at this competition. James was invited to the take part in the challenge at the same camp and was also spotted there and invited to have a trial with our club.
22nd August 2007 - Hillsborough Boys Tournament
On the 4th August the team travelled to Suffolk FC in Belfast to take part in the inaugural Hillsborough Mini Soccer Tournament. Sadly, though this was no a happy experience for the boys as they failed to progress past the qualifying stages. They played four matches drawing three and losing their last match. Had they won that match they would have made it through but they finished the day without scoring a goal. This was an unusual feeling for the team as they are normally a free scoring team.
